"Televangelist Pat Robertson on Thursday told an 80-year-old viewer, who gave more than 10 percent to the church, that she should get a job or sell stuff on eBay if she couldn’t afford her medical bills.
“My husband and I are in our 80s and have been tithing for many years,” the viewer wrote Robertson in a letter. “We both love the Lord and give willingly and our tithe is over 10 percent.”
The woman said that she thanked God for her blessings, “but we never have an extra penny after our monthly bills are paid.”*
