Frank Turek: Lying For Jesus

Reality: Theism vs Atheism - Frank Turek vs David Silverman

Christian apologist Frank Turek (author of I Don't Have Enough Faith To Be An Atheist) debates atheist spokesman David Silverman (president of the American Atheists) on the topic: Which offers a better explanation for reality--Theism or Atheism? This debate was held on April 18, 2013 at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA. Silverman couldn't quite keep up to Turek's fast-talking and fast-thinking ways, except by trolling and constantly (and annoyingly) interrupting and filibustering Turek. Turek, on the other hand, was quite patient with David Silverman.

BBC Program with Richard Dawkins.

Church of Scientology is above the law

The "Church" of Scientology has always considered itself above the law. It treats it's own workers with callous disregard. It is a matter of world wide interest that horrible living conditions, beatings, assault and battery go unreported to law enforcement.

Child molestation through the years has been covered up. My own son Alexander Jentzsch had sex with 40 year old 2x and this was unreported to Clearwater PD. Other crimes are continuously hidden for sake of "Good Public Relations".

I will be uncovering these crimes and exposing them on this YouTube Channel. The start of this series depicts putting staff and public at risk while the $$$$$ flows up the command lines to "senior management".

Your Argument Is Invalid (with JT Eberhard)

Time and again, we put religious claims under the white hot light of science, reason and the evidence, and almost invariably, those claims dissolve in the face of the facts.

Yet they persist. They continue. They are everywhere.

JT Eberhard is host of the popular blog, "What Would JT Do (http://www.patheos.com/blogs/wwjtd. An atheist, advocate for LGBT rights, co-founder of Skepticon and sought-after public speaker. Outside of his work as an activist, JT Eberhard is a veteran of the Springfield Regional Opera's Young Artist Program. A baritone, JT has a handful of professional roles to his credit with various companies including work under the directorship of two-time Grammy-winner James Billings.

The doubt essential to faith: Lesley Hazleton

When Lesley Hazleton was writing a biography of Muhammad, she was struck by something: The night he received the revelation of the Koran, according to early accounts, his first reaction was doubt, awe, even fear. And yet this experience became the bedrock of his belief. Hazleton calls for a new appreciation of doubt and questioning as the foundation of faith -- and an end to fundamentalism of all kinds.

Religion: Why it Can Be Hard to Change Your Mind

Even the best of us can be faced with undeniable facts and it's still hard to change a belief. And it's not just the religious who do that. It's the wise man who can recognize the contradictions in his own worldview. But what does he then do about it?

This line of thinking was inspired by the wonderful article by Sam Harris entitled "The Fireplace Delusion."

Rappin' for Jesus!
by Pastor & Mrs. Jim Colerick

Letra
Well I wrote this song for the christian youth
I wanna teach kids, the christian truth
If you wanna reach those kids on the street
Then you gotta do a rap, do a hip-hop beat.

I gave my surmon a urban kick
My rhymes are fly, my beats are sick
My crew is big and it keeps getting bigger
That's cuz Jesus Christ is my nigga.

Oooooooo

Hes a life-changer, miracle-arranger
Born to the virgin mom in a manger
Water to wine, hes a drink exchanger
And he died for your sins.

I preach the word, thats my gig
And I rhyme better than Notorious BIG
Other MC's.. I wish them well
But if you live in sin, you burn in hell.

Now I'm a pass the mic to my lovely wife
Shes a fly MC and the light of my life
So to bust a rhyme without further ado
Take it away Mary Sue!

Jesus Christ is my nigga...
Hes the son of the original G
And he was sent to Earth to elucidate the way that we should be.

Whaat??

Liiike if another MC says
"Your a freak!
You're a lame-butt rapper
And your rhymes are weak!"
I don't get mad and I don't critique
I forgive him, and turn the other cheek

I don't blaspheme and I don't brag
I don't cuss, and my pants don't sag
I do exude a little christian swag
And I'm proud to be... an American!

Jesus Christ is our nigga.
Let his light shine through ya!
Let His love pop a cap in your butt and say HALLELUJAH!

Jesus Christ is my nigga.
He's a homie MC JC UC?
He's a honest, caring, peace loving nigga
Like me.

If you do drugs and think your cool
You need to come, to sunday school!
Put those drugs in the garbage can
Stand up tall, you're a christian man!

Worddd up!
I'm freestyling!

Hit me!

A man on his death bed feels the sensation of floating over his own body. A woman dies in a freak accident and, before she is revived by physicians, visits Heaven. A teenager barely escapes being killed in a car crash, and the experience changes his perception of life and death.

What do we make of these near-death and after-death accounts? What, exactly, is the "white light" that apparently welcomes us as our heart stops beating? Is there any evidence to support the claims that those who have walked the membrane between life and death have seen into a spiritual plane?

We explore the issue. Plus your calls and emails.

Astronomers find them around newly forming stars, supermassive black holes and many other places in the Universe. Today we'll talk about what it takes to get an accretion disk, and how they help us understand the objects inside.

Coffee with Claire for May 12, 2013

This week, the "Dim Bulb" competition features a bout between the purveyor of the dumbest comment of the year on Fox "News," and one of the premier theocratic jackasses in America. Also, my review of the new movie, "The Great Gatsby," as well as a review of the stupidest thing ever written about Richard Wagner and Adolf Hitler. Also, two great shoutouts and a special thank you to DarwinsGift.

Mormon Endowment Ceremony Footage

There are only two Mormon temples in the world that perform what is known as a "LIVE" endowment ceremony; Salt Lake City and Manti, Utah. This video was filmed in the Salt Lake City Mormon Temple. It was filmed on two occasions in 2011 and 2012.

In place of the movie that is seen in the rest of the temples, volunteer temple workers act out all the roles in the ceremony.

(You'll notice that the endowment in this video was done on behalf of a "Preston Burns" but then at the veil the name given was different. Keep in mind, the part of this video filmed at the veil was filmed on a different date however, the "new name" is the same. That's because both visits were made on the 14th of a month. The "new names" are the same on any given day of the month with only 31 mens "new names" and 31 womens "new names". These "New names" are switched around about every ten years.)

VERY special thanks to Larry Greenwood for providing the closed captioning. It is a VERY slow and miserable process. And now, if there are faults in the Closed Captions they are the mistakes of men; wherefore, condemn not the things of Larry, that ye may be found spotless at the judgment-seat of Christ. ;-)

Neil deGrasse Tyson on Food for Mars Missions

What would astronauts eat on a manned mission to Mars? Neil deGrasse Tyson tells co-host Chuck Nice what's on NASA's menu for Mars, including how they make food taste great over long periods of time without refrigeration and what kind of sustainable livestock and crops make sense for a long-term Martian colony. It's a tasty Cosmic Query with a shelf-life of 3-4 years -- the time it takes to go to and from Mars! And yes, there will be astronaut ice cream. The Mormons

This episode explores the beliefs and practices of a church with over 14 million members. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (The Mormons) is, according to the National Council of Churches, the fourth largest Christian denomination in the United States.

It also finds itself constantly in the headlines over things like secret handshakes, magic underwear (temple garments), polygamy, racism, child abuse, a billion-dollar tax-free bank account and a planet called Kolob.

Our special guest is David Fitzgerald, author of the new book in the series, The Complete Heretic's Guide to Western Religion, "The Mormons."

Deceiving Our Guru

When we deceive our guru, we will separate from our guru, or we will see our guru's actions as wrong, or we will illicit wrathful actions from our guru, or we will cause our guru to have short life.

The worst omen, is not trees falling on our houses, or accidents happening on our way to see our guru, or our pendants falling, or fire, or bad dreams, the worst omen a student can have, is when our guru needs to repeat his instruction to us.

The Thing God Doesn't Know

Mmmmm lust. Could lust be yet another weakness for the concept of the Abrahamic God?

Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with lust, but remember that we're accepting the theists' view that lust is bad for the sake of this argument.

God Paradox #1,354
If God doesn't know what lust feels like, then He isn't all-knowing.
If God does know what lust feels like, then He isn't all-good.

Remember that the religion doesn't make the distinction between feeling lust and acting upon it. Knowing the feeling is the same as committing the crime of lust. That's ridiculous, I know, but I didn't invent the religion; I'm just using its weaknesses against it.
