I don't know if this is a comedy piece.

Swine flu is a great example of the ineffectiveness of religion.
The Anglican church in Britain have issued a number of measures to combat the outbreak, including the temporary forbidding of "the peace" (where members of the congregation shake hands= physical contact) and- most importantly- the suspension of Communion (no sharing a goblet, despite it containing blood... oops, sorry, that's Catholics who believe in wacky transubstantiation)!
Of course, a loving god would take special care of his followers and ensure that they didn't contract swine flu, surely?
Having said that, Christianity's record with pigs is somewhat shaky. In its own "infallible" book, "god" tells Peter to kill previously un-kosher animals (presumably pigs) and eat them (Acts 10:13), while Jesus sends demons into a herd of pigs (Matthew 8:31) when he could- if omnipotent- have merely killed the demons and spared the pigs, right?
Well... we can't find logic and reason i religon... and Jesus of the Bible was an ass.
Matthew 21:18-19 "8Early in the morning, as he was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, "May you never bear fruit again!" Immediately the tree withered."
