Casey Luskin on Intelligent Design and creationism
Following Casey Luskins flapping on the video Challenging the Discovery Institute to Discover, Luskin has earned himself the honor of being the subject of Why do people laugh at creationists Part 30.
The Discovery Institute has all but abandoned intelligent design (the rebranding of creationism- see video) as a lost cause, they even go on record saying they dont think it should be taught in schools!
They initially set up a peer review journal of their own (Progress in Complexity, Information, and Design) but abandoned it after they got called out on the lineage of intelligent design to creationism.
Luskin helped set up intelligent design and evolution awareness clubs, but stated that the management believed the designer was the God of the Bible, and then happily goes on camera and states that intelligent design has nothing to do with religion, despite all the diagrams he has connecting the two on the IDEA webpage.
What really astounds me about these guys is they have utterly lost, and yet they dont have the dignity to accept that they were wrong graciously. Instead all you get is a bunch of bitter misfits doing their best to sew disinformation and throw as much mud as possible but for what gain? All I see is a bunch of jerks committing spiteful intellectual vandalism for their personal gratification. Really what do these people hope to gain by pretending there is controversy where none exists?

A Challenge to the Discovery Institute
If people like the Discovery Institute want to put forward hypotheses such as intelligent design as an origin for the information in DNA, then that's fine, but if they want it to be taken seriously, they must provide some evidence to support it. The user C0nc0rdance has provided exactly such a method for them to do this. Its simple, find a gene without an evolutionary heritage. The genomes of about 180 life forms have been sequenced containing maybe a million genes, and thus far the Discovery Institute has shown saintly resistance to look for a single gene that shows signs of non-evolutionary origin.
If you are an Intelligent Design Proponenist and think this would be an excellent method for presenting evidence to support ID, then arguably your best course of action would be to contact the Discovery Institute (http://www.discovery.org/ ) at info@discovery.org and suggest that the largest pro-intelligent design organisation actually looks for evidence to support their hypothesis.

Albert Cutie supposed to be celibate, but the pictures show him getting very cozy with a woman on a South Florida beach. Father Alberto Cutie is now on leave as the church tries to figure out how to deal with this scandal. Parishioners are shocked by these photos showing their priest, Father Alberto Cutie, locked in a loving embrace with a brunette on the beach.

Intelligent Design and Creationism/Evolution Controversy
'Intelligent Design' (ID) is a new form of creationism that emerged after legal decisions in the 1980s hampered the inclusion of 'creation science' in the public school curriculum. In the 20 years since ID appeared, there has been no evidence of it being used to solve problems in biology.
Although the scientific/scholarly part of ID has been a failure, the 'cultural renewal' part of ID has been a success, as supporters of ID seek 'restoration' of a theistic sensibility in American culture to replace what they consider an overemphasis on secularism.

Matthews: You want to educate the American people about science and its relevance today. Do you believe in evolution sir?
Pence: Um...do I believe in evolution? I embrace the, the view that god created the heavens and the earth and the seas and all that's in them.
Matthews: Right. But do you believe in evolution as the way he did it?
Pence: The means Chris that he used to do that...I can't say, but I do believe in that fundamental truth.
Matthews: Did you take biology in school? Did you take science which is all based in evolutionary belief and assumption. The reason I'm asking this is not to pick a fight. If your party wants to be credible on science you've got to accept science. Do you?
Pence: I always wanted to play in Inherit the Wind but on the global warming issue I know that in the main stream media...
Matthews: See how you're hedging? This is why people don't trust Republicans.
Pence: In the main stream media Chris there is a denial of the growing skepticism in the scientific community about global warming.

Matthews: I would argue you have a very split position on the issue of science. You have people in your party who don't believe in stem cell research and Federal funding of that, who don't believe in evolution..
Pence: Oh come on Chris...
Matthews: Well let me ask you this does your party agree on stem cell (crosstalk)
Pence: Science is an exploration of demonstrable facts. Isn't it? I think in our schools we should teach all of the facts about all of these controversial areas and let our students, let our children and our children's children decide based upon the facts.

Matthews: Here's the ludicrous part. You're obviously as educated as I am Congressman. I'm not challenging your bona fides to have this argument, but there are people on your side of the argument who believe that all the prehistoric bones we've discovered in the world, all the dinosaur bones and all that stuff was somehow planted there by liberal scientists to make the case against the Bible. There are people that really are against science in your party who really do question not just the science behind climate change but the science behind evolutionary fact that we were taught, you and I in our biology books. They don't accept the scientific method. They believe in belief itself and and once you hold that truth that I'm not going to be busted here on science, I'm not going to lose the argument on science some people say I don't think your party really believes in progress, in human progress.
Pence: You know it's an interesting straw-man you put up. I don't know too many Americans that actually think that way Chris. I think most Americans are serious and study science.
Matthews: I think you're afraid to say so because your conservative constituency might find that offensive.
Pence: No I've said to you Chris that I believe with all my heart that god created the heavens and the earth, the seas and all that's in them. How he did that I'll ask him about some day.

This is the second part of the Noah's Flood debunk. I'm only showing two aspects of this myth which blow it out of the water (pardon the pun) -- sedimentary rock formations and the sorting of fossils. These are the only things creationists not only cannot explain, they don't even try to explain them. I know this sounds like I'm debunking Jack and the beanstalk or Little Red Riding Hood, but 65 per cent of Americans really believe a global flood actually happened.
