The history of Jesus - the pagan Christ

Is it possible that christianity evolved from an ancient egyptian cult? In fact, is it possible that the historical Jesus didn't even exist? A fascinating journey into antiquity based on a best selling book by an anglican priest, the pagan Christ.

Notice how the people casually dismissing the arguments are "Theologians" rather than proper historians. Their main point is always "no historian believes that" which is neither backed up nor weighty; clearly some historians DO believe something different.

It also must be noted that most good historians don't waste their time chronicling fairy tales from 2000 or so years ago. They have better things to do, like not relying on woefully inadequate sources (everything the Theologians in the video consider to be solid evidence of Jesus, which is little more than the conflicting, non-primary material in the gospels).

The "scholarship" surrounding Jesus is almost exclusively composed of believers, ruining its credibility. If a scholar dares to disagree, they find themselves shouted down and drowned out (Yes, the church institutions have done this throughout history and continue to do so) so no wonder "no historian believes that". Thankfully, however, this trend is beginning to change!

To say there are no parallels between Jesus and earlier sun gods is somewhat myopic, almost like saying there are no similarities between our civilization and that of the ancients (which no one in their right mind would say).

How many parallels do they need before they accept that even one parallel exists? Horus, Dionysus, Mithra, Vishnu, Chrishna... even the Old Testament Joseph has a scary number of parallels to Jesus (although no one claims Joesph to be divine).

But the attitude of these "scholars" is hardly surprising when they've been eagerly digesting bullshit for such a while that they no longer recognize the taste. If someone shows them contrary evidence it is dismissed and/or "trumped" by faith. They cannot afford to concede Pagan parallels because so doing completely destroys the foundation of their faith. So instead they put on a confident guise by using an argument from (false) authority rather than actually attending to the facts.

That such men are granted posts in academic institutions when their scholarship is so utterly lazy is beyond me. But when religion has you under its spell, especially if you're gullible in the first place, it seems many find it very difficult to shed the veil of faith and see the light of fact. Also, when we allow religious institutions to fund and control certain educational establishments, it's hardly a shock that "Theologians" are allowed to continue to propagate their lies!
