According to the Bible, Matthew 2, 1-3 "After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him."
When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him."
Herod the Great of course died in 4 B.C. - but when does the Bible ever care about the real world.

One of many historical inaccuracies in the Bible. More telling is the almost complete absence of literature referring to Jesus the person, with nothing dating from the time he is supposed to have lived. It wouldn't stand up in a court of law and it shouldn't be believed as being anything more than fantastical myth.
