Richard Dawkins on Al Jazeera July 21, 2008

This year marks the 149th anniversary of the first announcement of Darwin's theory of natural selection, the main driving force behind evolution. More than a century and half later his theories continue to be hotly debated, raising issues of Creationism and Intelligent Design, as well as what we should be teaching our children in schools about the creation of man.

Wow! 149-years eh? Here's hoping they do something special next year then! I had the pleasure of visiting Darwin's birthplace earlier this year- Shrewsbury, UK- where there were two fantastic statues of the great man! Darwin is a vital contributor to modern science, everyone NEEDS to be aware of his theory of evolution by natural selection, it's pure genius!
