Last week, Pope Francis condemned the world's "Cult of Money" saying that the economic crisis had left millions of people in rich and poor countries worse off. It's a strange person to hear it from, since the Catholic Church are well known for their massive wealth.

Religion in the Family (Atheist Experience)
The Atheist Experience #914 for April 19, 2015, with Matt Dillahunty and Tracie Harris.
Topic: Religion and Families. Tracie talks about how religions can destroy family structures and bonds.
Callers:
Sam from New York, NY - What is the origin of circumcision?
Zach from Charlotte, NC - What brought the universe into existence?
Ben from El Salvador - What do you think of the subjugation of indigenous Americans via religion?
Emily from Wisconsin - Can atheists benefit from 12-step programs like AA?
WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?
The Atheist Experience is a weekly cable access television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

The Bank of God
The Vatican City is a landlocked sovereign city-state whose territory consists of a walled enclave within the city of Rome. Encircled by a 2-mile border with Italy the city covers just over 100 acres, making it one-eighth the size of New York's Central Park. Vatican City is governed as an absolute monarchy with the Pope as its head. And is one of the most sacred places in Christendom. The Vatican mints its own Euros, prints its own stamps, issues passports and license plates, operates media outlets and has its own flag and anthem. The Vatican also has its own bank.
The Vatican bank serves thousands of Catholic charities, religious orders and dioceses around the world, in addition to roughly 500 people living in the tiny city-state. It has some 33,400 accounts and about $8 billion in assets. Yet the Vatican bank's murky finances, which has been suspected for years of being a channel for the laundering of mob profits, perhaps has a skeleton in the closet. In this movie we look into financial scandals that have always plagued the Bank of Vatican

How To Stop Football Injuries According To Allen West
The Freedom From Religion Foundation is locked in a dispute with the University of Tennessee Knoxville over it's policy allowing on field prayer before it's football games. In defense of on field prayer is Allen West noted football player and attempted politician from time to time. John Iadarola and Desi Doyen of The Young Turks discuss.
Should on field prayer be banned? Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
"Disgraced Floridian and former congressman Allen West took some time recently to address a Texas conservative group about the dangers of separating church and state—dangers like grievous football injuries, specifically. But thankfully, that ain’t nothing a little prayer can’t fix.
So where does West get off making these claims?
It appears West’s various head-on attacks did a little more damage than he realizes, because his claims of a lack of “catastrophic injuries” back in his day are demonstrably false. What’s more, the instance he was responding to didn’t even involve removing prayer from football entirely."

How One Swingers Club Outsmarted Religious Zealots In Tennessee
"When the community of Madison in Nashville, Tenn. found out that the new owners of an old medical building next door to the Goodpasture Christian School planned to turn the property into a swingers club, they put a stop to it by rezoning the property to prohibit clubs. The owners of what was formerly known as The Social Club is loophole’ing the community right back, however, and are now working on having the property renovated into a church called The United Fellowship Center. A sexy church.
According to WKRN-2, the plans apparently aren’t all that much different from when the property was zoned as a swingers club, only now the dungeon is a choir room, the game room will be a “fellowship hall” and the dance floor is now a sanctuary.”
Desi Doyen (http://www.twitter.com/greennewsreport) and Cara Santa Maria (http://www.twitter.com/carasantamaria) of discuss on The Young Turks.

Mike Rinder on Why Scientology Inc Must Tell Lies
Mike Rinder discusses the Scientology PR flack Sylvia Stanard's recent speech about Scientology at the Chataqua religious conclave. Stanard lied about Xenu, Disconnection, and other matters of substance. Stanard was evasive and refused to honestly answer questions. Mike Rinder makes the point that no Church of Scientology spokesperson can tell the truth -- and Rinder knows as he was the International Spokesman for the Church of Scientology for over twenty years.
Mike Rinder makes the point that all the Church of Scientology can do is to evade, duck, and deflect the hard questions and does so by focusing on its real estate portfolio as proof of its expansion. "If Scientology were really that bad would we be purchasing and opening all of these new Ideal Orgs?"

Latest Police Neglect Victim: Freddie Gray Dies Of A Severed Spine
Police chiefs in Baltimore retreated on Friday from earlier claims that Freddie Gray, whose death has caused an outcry, must have been injured inside the van carrying him after his arrest.
They said they were investigating what happened during one of the stops made by the vehicle.
Asked whether Gray was fatally hurt by a so-called “rough ride” without a seatbelt in the back of the vehicle, or could have been injured outside the van, police commissioner Anthony Batts said at a press conference there were 'potentials for both of those.'"

Police Electrocuted Man To Death For Sagging Pants
Ervin Leon Edwards, 38, died face down in a jail cell after a half-dozen officers held him down and tasered him, then left him for dead.
His crime? Police were questioning him about an argument with his girlfriend and then began harassing him over his “sagging pants,” according to the lawsuit. He was arrested moments later and brought to the West Baton Rouge jail.
As Edwards was being arrested, for seemingly no reason, he began to voice his discontent. Nonetheless, officers still managed to restrain him and bring him to jail.
During the arrest, police threatened to taser Edwards at which point his girlfriend begged them not to because of Edward’s high blood pressure, according to the lawsuit.
What happens next can only be described as gross criminal negligence on behalf of Port Allen Police.

Michelle Manhart worship a falg (crazy video)
Michelle Manhart is a veteran having serviced in the U.S. Air Force with strong feelings toward the flag of the country she swore to protect but may have taken her devotion a little too far into the 'no flag, no country' territory of thought.
A group of protestors at Valdosta State University tried to walk on and burn an American flag in protest and when Michelle Manhart figured out what was happening she was having none of that.
Michelle Manhart stole the flag and held it hostage, even after police arrived to pry it from her and give it back to the protestors. Michelle Manhart, despite fighting with police, was not tasered, shot by accident, or even really roughed up that much. Instead Michelle Manhart was given a ban from the university and a stern talking to from police.

Atheist Debates:- Does it Satisfy
While in Melbourne, Australia, I had the opportunity to engage in a conversation with an evangelical pastor who was a former Atheist. We each discuss why we hold our current positions as well as discussing various worldview issues.
The original topic, "Does it satisfy" was meant to compare a Christian world view with an atheistic world view to see which one was more satisfying. While I'm far more concerned with which truth than satisfaction, I tried to point out that while I may not be primarily concerned with which is satisfying, I do find rational atheism to be far more satisfying.
The event was arranged by the City Bible Forum in Melbourne, Australia.

Religious Bigot Against Gays But Adultery Is A “Different Kind Of Sin"
Christian florist in Georgia uses the crucification of Jesus Christ to explain why they will not provide flowers for a gay marriage ceremony. However, she admits she has no issues serving adulterers because it’s a “different kind of sin." Ben Mankiewicz (What The Flick?! & Turner Classic Movies), Steve Oh and Ana Kasparian of The Young Turks discuss.
“At least one florist in Jeff Davis County, Georgia admitted to a double standard regarding providing service to “sinners” in a CNN interview regarding “religious freedom” laws.
“In the Ten Commandments, it says you can’t commit adultery,” reporter Gary Tuchman said to the florist, Melissa Jeffcoat, adding, “It says you need to honor your father and mother.”
When he asked whether she would provide flowers for an adulterer or someone who had “dishonored” their parents, she replied affirmatively.”

Study: What Are Most & Least Religious Countries?
Cenk Uygur host of The Young Turks discusses a newly released study that shows the least religious countries and what that may mean.
"Gallup International and WI Network of Market Research conducted over sixty thousand interviews world wide to determine which countries are the least religious. While there is a litany of reasons as to why a country may not be very religious and the results may vary its important to remember that ultimately statistics are worthless and are more of an interesting thing to think about more so than anything of real value. It's also important to remember that correlation does not always mean causation nor vise versa. It's just an interesting survey. But it is interesting that less religion usually means a more developed country."
What do you make from the results of the study? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Social Media Outraged By Gwyneth Paltrow’s Food Stamp Challenge
Gwyneth Paltrow is slashing her food budget to raise awareness about hunger. But sometimes even the best intentions are met with criticism, eye rolls and sarcasm.
Last week, the Oscar winner announced that she had accepted The Food Bank for New York City challenge to live on food stamps for one week, with a grocery budget of $29 or about $1.38 per meal.”

Atheist Debates - Yall just want to sin
Some apologists seek to avoid defending their position or addressing the merits of atheists' positions by simply suggesting that our reasons for disbelief are emotional and driven by a desire to 'sin' rather than intellectual and driven by a concern for the truth.
"Y'all just want to sin." Takes a look at example or two and offers my thoughts (new and old) on how to address this dodgy tactic

Werner Haag - The Bonobo and The Atheist and moral
Our own Werner Haag is going to review the content of Frans De Waal's book "The Bonobo and the Atheist"
De Wall's book focuses on the biological evolution of morality (extending John Figdor's talk) back on an evolutionary time scale as opposed to the beginning of the historical record. The book gives numerous examples of many "lower" mammals having well-developed social codes and exhibit empathy and sympathy, which are prerequisites for moral behavior and altruism. Apes and other mammals exhibit both pro-social behavior (a proactive desire to help each other and live in harmony) and fear of group punishment for violating behavioral rules, very similar to human methods of maintaining social order. Thus, basic moral behavior predates existing religions probably by millions of years.
Werner graduated from M.I.T. and has a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Univ. of Tennessee.

Why Christians need to be “SAVED"
Christians have the concept of "saving people" all wrong. They think they're saving us from Hell by spreading the Good Word and talking about Jesus.
But we know we don't need saving. There's nothing wrong with us just because we're atheists.
Really, it's all of us who need to be saving them. We as atheists need to save religious people.
Hear me out on this. *We* can actually save *them* in so many ways.

Senator Jim Inhofe Uses The Bible To Disprove Climate Change
Cenk Uygur host of The Young Turks discusses Oklahoma Republican Senator Jim Inhofe's new evidence to back up his claims disproving climate change.
Senator Inhofe has a flare for the theatric. This was shown earlier this year when he walked into the Senate with a snowball to 'disprove' global warming. This was widely regarded as a bad move and Inhofe has drawn a large amount of criticism. In a bold counter move Senator Inhofe revealed new evidence that should come as a surprise to absolutely no one when he started quoting from the bible, a book near and dear to himself and his constituents. In his recent book, 'The Greatest Hoax', he points to a number of passages that state that the seasons will always continue as long as the planet remains in one piece. How this relates in any way to the actual expected outcomes to a worst case scenario due to climate change was not addressed.

Andrew Copson on The Daily Politics on David Cameron's divisive 'Christian country' rhetoric
The text of the letter in full: ‘We respect the Prime Minister’s right to his religious beliefs and the fact that they affect his own life as a politician. However, we wish to object to his repeated mischaracterising of our country as a ‘Christian country’ and the negative consequences for our politics and society that this view engenders.
‘Apart from in the narrow constitutional sense that we continue to have an established church, we are not a ‘Christian country’. Repeated surveys, polls, and studies show most of us as individuals are not Christian in our beliefs or our religious identities and at a social level, Britain has been shaped for the better by many pre-Christian, non-Christian, and post-Christian forces. We are a plural society with citizens with a range of perspectives and a largely non-religious society. To constantly claim otherwise fosters alienation and division in our society.
‘Although it is right to recognise the contribution made by many Christians to social action, it is wrong to try to exceptionalise their contribution when it is equalled by British people of different beliefs. It needlessly fuels enervating sectarian debates that are by and large absent from the lives of most British people, who – as polls show – do not want religions or religious identities to be actively prioritised by their elected government.’

“I’d be happy to, actually,” Moore replies, adding, “Not really. But I know it wouldn’t hurt me.”

Education Doesn’t Matter: Republicans Still Don’t Believe In Climate Change
How could it be that the more educated Democrats are, the more likely they are to believe the science on manmade climate change, yet when Republicans have more education, they are more likely to be skeptics? That is the conundrum put forward by a new Gallup poll released Thursday that showed a whopping 74% of college-educatied Republicans saying they believe global warming is “generally exaggerated.”
By contrast, only 15% of college-educated Democrats said the same. For Republicans with a high school education or less, 57% believe climate change is exaggerated, while only 27% of high school-educated or less Democrats said the same.

Cameraman Reveals More Bill O'Reilly Bullshit
Cenk Uygur host of The Young Turks discusses the tell-all statement that reveals that Bill O'Reilly was mostly spinning tales about his involvement in covering the Falklands War in 1982.
Facts and eye witness accounts have revealed in recent years that Bill O'Reilly is less a conservative newsman version of Forest Gump, covering important stories from the front lines of history and instead is kind of more of a lying douchebag. Former CBS cameraman Ignacio Medrano-Carbo released a statement to news website Mother Jones that contradicts the account told by O'Reilly of his actions in covering the Falklands War in the 1980s. O'Reilly liked to talk up his war coverage, stating he had seen riots and seen people gunned down in the street. According to Medrano-Carbo, O'Reilly was nowhere near the action and that he actually was responsable for all of the footage that was taken during the riot and unrest.
Bill O'Reilly has released a counter statement claiming he has never worked with Medrano-Carbo.

Religious Bigots Make Hundreds Of Thousands Through Crowdfunding
No doubt you’ve heard the proverb, “A fool and his money are soon parted.” Nowhere is this more true than in the case of people who send money to businesses that claim a “moral” stance against serving gays or anyone in the LGBT community.
After Crystal O’Connor of Memories Pizza in Walkerton, Ind., harrumphed that the pizzeria would not cater a gay wedding with its pies, saying, “We are a Christian establishment,” the restaurant got loads of good and bad publicity. It got slammed on Yelp for its bigoted remarks and claimed that it was “forced to close.” Of course, the airtime it got on right-wing media like Fox News had the opposite effect. Conservatives sent checks to the poor, misunderstood business so it wouldn’t suffer. At last count, the total was around $850,000.”

Documentary "Going Clear" examines Church of Scientology
The HBO documentary has sparked months of controversy. "Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief," which includes interviews with several former church members, is being criticized by the Church of Scientology as "one-sided" and "dishonest." The film's director Alex Gibney and Lawrence Wright, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author whose book the film is based on, join "CBS This Morning" to discuss the documentary.
UK 'faith' school London Oratory found to discriminate on basis of race and social status
In 2014, the London Oratory School, a Catholic state-funded school in West London, was found to breach the statutory Admissions Code in a whopping 105 different ways through its ridiculously stringent religious admissions criteria. As part of its determination, the schools adjudicator noted that its admissions criteria amounted to selection on racial and socio-economic grounds.
In the above video, BHA Campaigns Manager Richy Thompson appears on the BBC London News to discuss this finding, and an appeal from the school, which says that having to rewrite its admissions policy would go against its religious ethos. Richy also makes a broader case against religious selection in schools.

Lawmakers of Discriminating Religious Freedom Law Don't Give a Fuck
Cenk Uygur (http://www.twitter.com/cenkuygur) host of The Young Turks discusses Indiana lawmakers and their reactions to criticism for their Religious Freedom Law that allows discrimination against anyone on religious grounds.
If you ever needed a reason to start a religion and keep everyone else out of your cool secret religion club house now you have exactly what you need; the Religious Freedom Restoration Act that just went on the books in Indiana allows businesses to discriminate against anyone for religious reasons. This law has caused a lot of criticism, especially in the LGBT community but the creators of the law could not care less. Lawmakers in Indiana who supported the law went out of their way to show that they didn't care that the law could discriminate, because that was what they had created the law for in the first place.
Indiana is the twentieth state to pass such a law because the United States is huge and has quite a few insane people living there.

Gay People Not Welcome In Christian Businesses In Indiana
Over loud objections from Indiana business leaders, GOP Gov. Mike Pence signed a bill into law Thursday that protects business owners who refuse service to gay and lesbian customers on religious grounds. Organizers of mass events in Indianapolis, including the NCAA's Final Four, immediately decried the law as discriminatory, and suggested that the bill might cause the state to lose out on future business.
The law allows Indianans who are sued for discrimination to cite their religious beliefs as a defense. It applies to a broad range of situations. An employer who refused to hire Jewish employees could cite his religious beliefs as a defense against discrimination lawsuits. So could a landlord who refused to rent to Muslims, or a business that refused to serve atheists.
At a news conference that followed the private signing, Pence explaining he signed the bill "because I support the freedom of religion for every Hoosier of every faith…Today, many people of faith feel their religious liberty is under attack by government action." He cited the University of Notre Dame's fight to prevent its employees from accessing birth control as an example

VICE Meets the Former Senior Executive of the Church of Scientology
This week, VICE meets Mark "Marty" Rathbun, a former senior executive of the Church of Scientology who left the church in 2004. He is a key subject of Alex Gibney's new documentary Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, which is being released March 29 through HBO Documentary Films. We discuss his past in the Church of Scientology, auditing, and the harassment techniques allegedly used by the church.
Why I No Longer Believe In God (Documentary)
This is a video I created for my friends and family detailing how and why I went from a deeply religious Christian to an atheist.
It's not meant to persuade or "deconvert" anyone but is a detailed description of the step-by-step process which led me to where I am today. I hope you enjoy it!

LGBT Celebrities' React To Anti-Gay Religious Freedom Law
"Cenk Uygur (http://www.twitter.com/cenkuygur) host of The Young Turks discusses reactions from LGBT celebrities' to an Indiana law that would allow businesses to refuse service to homosexuals and others for purely religious reasons.
Indiana Governor Mike Pence signed a new law on the books, the Religions Freedom Law, that would allow business owners to deny service or to block access to the business on anyone so long as it is based on religious reasons. Obviously many saw this as a bad move and a lot of LGBT people in the public eye had a thing or two to say about it. Everyone from Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, to actor George Takei to Charles Barkley, the former NBA star, had very harsh criticism for the law. The twitter-sphere was buzzing with activity condemning the new law."

Scientology E-Meter Testing
VICE editor-in-chief Rocco Castoro heads out to Union Square to give strangers E-meter readings, determining their spiritual and moral fiber.
The Hubbard Electrometer, more commonly known as the E-meter, is a "religious artifact" used to measure the state of electrical characteristics in the static field surrounding the body. E-meters operate in a similar fashion to lie detectors, relying on a type of electrical circuit called a wheatstone bridge, which measures the subject's galvanic skin response. In short, the device produces a small electrical current, and measures the subject's electrical resistance to that current. Auditors use the device to measure answers to various questions that can supposedly determine whether or not a person is spiritually pure. Basically, it's what it sounds like: a bunch of bullshit. And we made this video to prove it.

Televangelist Creflo Dollar NEEDS A Private Jet For Missionary Work
Creflo Dollar’s "Project G650" campaign to get 200,000 people to donate money to fund the purchase of a private $65 million Gulfstream G650 airplane for his ministry is now defunct. His ambitious request to replace his malfunctioning 30-year-old plane prompted many to criticize the Atlanta-based televangelist.

Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief (2015 HBO documentary)
The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist Lawrence Wright's book Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, and the Prison of Belief, which was published in January 2013 and was a National Book Award finalist. HBO announced in December 2014 that Alex Gibney, an Oscar-winning director who made Taxi to the Dark Side and The Armstrong Lie, was directing a film based on the book, to be released at the 2015 Sundance Festival. It was the first time that HBO had tackled Scientology directly, though not the first time it had clashed with the church, which had mounted demonstrations outside HBO's headquarters after a 1998 documentary presented anti-depressant drugs – fiercely opposed by Scientology – in a positive light.

Gibney began working on the film in 2013 after becoming intrigued by Wright's book. He collaborated with Wright, who came on board as a producer, to explore the book's underlying theme of "how people become prisoners of faith in various ways". He saw Scientology as one of the toughest subjects he has had to tackle in his career as a documentarian, alongside government complicity in torture, corporate financial malfeasance, and clerical sexual abuse.
Fear of Scientology's litigiousness meant that no American network was willing to license any material to the film makers, which Gibney found "astounding". He commented that he "found it interesting that universally this subject — more than any other — provoked all the networks to decline to license. I think at the end of the day, that tells you more about Scientology than it does about the networks, which is how ruthless they've been in trying to silence any criticism." The church's reputation for harassing its critics made it necessary for Gibney to use burner phones to contact interviewees and film in secret: "Sometimes for the on-camera interviews we'd set up gear in somebody's house and I'd make sure I'd be there hours before. Then the person would show up there so it was like they were just going to somebody’s house."
Explaining why he chose to make a film about Scientology, he told Reuters that he considered it to be "an important topic. Not only about this church of Scientology, which everybody's fascinated with partially because of the celebrities, but partially because of the way that the church seems to turn people to do things that I think they would normally never do if had they not entered the church." Gibney, Wright and the former Scientologists who appeared in the film told a post-screening question-and-answer session that they hoped that it would raise public awareness about the alleged abuses committed by the Church of Scientology and would prompt the media and law enforcement agencies to investigate further.

Man Can't Sue Restaurant For Burning Himself While Praying
A New Jersey appellate court says a man cannot seek damages for burns he suffered while bowing his head in prayer over a sizzling steak fajita skillet at a restaurant.
The ruling made public Wednesday upheld a lower court ruling that dismissed his lawsuit. The man claimed a waitress didn't warn him the dish was hot, but the lower court found the food posed an "open and obvious" danger.
It happened in 2010 at an Applebee's in Burlington County.
The man said he bowed his head, then heard a loud sizzle followed by a grease pop. He then felt a burning sensation in his left eye and on his face.
The man said he panicked and knocked the food on his lap, causing more burns. The burns didn't cause scarring."

Wannabe Forest Gump and Fox News host Bill O’Reilly had a fairly bad reaction to some negative reviews of the National Geographic documentary ‘Killing Jesus’ based on his novel of the same name. Taking his ball and going home O’Reilly waited until he was on his show The O’Reilly Factor to fire back at his critics, claiming that the negative press was due to anti-Christian and anti-religious sentiment within the general movie critic population. He went on to say that Christian tradition was under assault, stopping short of saying there was a war against it as he had to save that line for his annual War on Christmas segments. Most of the negative reviews revolved around the documentary just being a terrible movie with Christianity being only mentioned as the source material.

Dave Ramsey and His Big Ass House and Money From Jesus
It's probably safe to say that Dave Ramsey has shitloads of money, Scrooge McDuck piles of cash that he has acquired over a long life of telling overs how to make money for a nominal fee. Taking on the persona of so many self-help speakers from the 1990's Ramsey promotes a Christian lifestyle of managing wealth and remembering to thank Jesus once you're stinkin' rich. A website, Bible Money Matters, recently mocked Ramsey's brand new multi-million dollar house, asking how he could show off his success instead of following the teachings of Jesus to help the less fortunate. Ramsey shot back that it was Jesus's money, and that he was just taking care of it. Because apparently god hears you better from a nice pad and its probably even better in a private jet."

Anti-Gay Pizza Shop Gets Sliced By Internet
“It’s been a rough day for Memories Pizza, an Indiana pizza joint with the dubious distinction of being the first business to openly announce it discriminates against the LGBT community under Indiana’s new “Right to Shroud Your Bigotry In Religion” legislation.
Crystal O’Connor, whose family owns the small-town pizzeria, proudly displays her hatred. “If a gay couple came in and wanted us to provide pizzas for their wedding, we would have to say no,” she said Monday.
But, of course, O’Connor claims that they in no way discriminate. “We are a Christian establishment,” she explained. “We’re not discriminating against anyone, that’s just our belief and anyone has the right to believe in anything.”

Religious Freedom Means No Pizza For Gay Weddings
"A self-described Christian businessman won't cater same-sex ceremonies—not that he has a problem with gays, he says.
A Walkerton, Indiana, pizza shop is the state’s first business to declare it will not service gay weddings after the Religious Freedom Restoration Act was signed into law last week. “If a gay couple came in and wanted us to provide pizzas for their wedding, we would have to say no,” Memories Pizza’s Crystal O’Connor told a local news station. “We are a Christian establishment.” However, gay couples—like those of other faiths—are welcome to patronize the establishment on non-matrimonial occasions. “I don’t think it’s discrimination,” she told the news station. “It’s supposed to help people that have a religious belief.”
When contacted by The Daily Beast, Memories Pizza owner Kevin O’Connor said he didn’t expect the statements to become a national story when the local news crew walked into his shop to ask questions Wednesday."

What Really Happens In The Church of Scientology
"In Scientology, “going clear” means reaching a state of happiness and freedom. To get there, you've got to go through “audits.” Years of them. AJ+'s Francesca Fiorentini visited the Church of Scientology in San Francisco for her very first dip into the religion, or, as some would call it, cult.” Watch the full AJ+ segment here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jlg55...

Bill O’Reilly Temper Tantrum Over Negative Killing Jesus Reviews
"Cenk Uygur and John Iadaola host of The Young Turks discuss what Bill O’Reilly blames for bad reviews of the National Geographic docudrama ‘Killing Jesus’ based on his eponymous novel.
Most of the negative reviews revolved around the documentary just being a terrible movie with Christianity being only mentioned as the source material.”

Mormon Apologetics at its Finest
Why bother doing actual research when you can just make shit up?
Debunking the idea that the macuahuitl presents a plausible candidate for the Book of Mormon sword. This case represents a typical line of reasoning that apologetics will employ when defending their beliefs:
1) Search for a plausible scenario in favor of my faith
2) Neglect to scrutinize the scenario for holes or fallacies
3) Thump chest in victory over the mean and nasty critics
4) Live in ignorance forever
