How the mighty have fallen. Perhaps it has something to do with no longer being allowed to kill the opposition. The story of Elijah on Mt. Carmel is such obvious bunk, probably ancient propaganda, and clearly opposed to Moses' and Jesus' sentiments of not testing God.
DarkMatter2525 thought it would be funny to juxtapose it with a William Lane Craig-style debate. DarkMatter2525 guess somehow it wouldn't be as convincing for God to show up during one of Billy Craig's debates, with cameras rolling and a few billion potential viewers. Nope. A few hundred desert people atop Mt. Carmel are obviously much more important.

Response to German Courts Ban on Circumcision
Rabbi Ephraim Z. Buchwald, Director of the National Jewish Outreach Program (NJOP), addresses a very serious topic. Darwin's Darkest Hour (NOVA Documentary)
This two-hour scripted drama tells the remarkable story behind the unveiling of the most influential scientific theory of all time, Charles Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection. The program is a special presentation from NOVA and National Geographic Television, written by acclaimed British screenwriter John Goldsmith and directed by John Bradshaw.
Darwin, portrayed by Henry Ian Cusick (Lost), spent years refining his ideas and penning what he called his "big book." Yet, daunted by looming conflict with the orthodox religious values of his day, he resisted publishing--until a letter from naturalist Alfred Wallace forced his hand. In 1858, Darwin learned that Wallace was ready to publish ideas very similar to his own. In a sickened panic, Darwin grasped his dilemma: To delay publishing any longer would be to condemn his greatest work to obscurity--the brilliant argument he had pieced together with clues from his voyage on the Beagle, his adventures in the Andes, the bizarre fossils of Patagonia, the finches and giant tortoises of the Galapagos, as well as the British countryside. But to come forward with his ideas risked the fury of the Church and perhaps a rift with his own devoted wife, Emma, portrayed by Frances O'Connor (Mansfield Park, The Importance of Being Earnest), who was a devout Christian.

Simon Singh and the Fight for Free Speech
Simon Singh: The Fight for Freedom of Speech and Against Pseudoscience. Simon Singh is being interviewed by Julia Offe (GWUP) at the 6th World Skeptics Congress in Berlin 2012.
Simon Singh talks about his fight for freedom of speech and against pseudoscience in the UK regarding the chiropractic lawsuit: In 2008, The Guardian published Singh's column "Beware the Spinal Trap", an article that was critical of the practice of chiropractic and which resulted in Singh being sued for libel by the British Chiropractic Association (BCA). When the case was first brought against him, The Guardian supported him and funded his legal advice, as well as offering to pay the BCA's legal costs in an out-of-court settlement if Singh chose to settle.
Court case: In 2009, Mr Justice Eady ruled in a preliminary hearing at the Royal Courts of Justice that merely using the phrase "happily promotes bogus treatments" meant that Singh was stating, as a matter of fact (rather than as a matter of personal opinion or metaphor), that the British Chiropractic Association was being consciously dishonest in promoting chiropractic for treating the children's ailments in question. Singh denied he intended any such meaning.
Singh decided to appeal the ruling, which raised substantially the potential financial liability that he would face if he lost the case. Leave to appeal was granted in October 2009.
The pre-trial hearing took place in February 2010 before three senior judges at the Royal Courts of Justice. In April 2010, they allowed Singh's appeal, ruling that the high court judge had "erred in his approach". The Court of Appeal overturned the previous ruling that Singh's comments were an assertion of fact and instead ruled that Singh was entitled to defend his comments as legally permissible fair comment.
BCA withdrew their libel action shortly after this ruling, resulting in the end of the legal case.

Yahweh's Perfect Justice (Numbers 15:32-36)
Numbers 15 : 32 And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day.
33 And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation.
34 And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him. 35 And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.
36 And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses.
The god of the bible is a sick, inhumane, barbaric character. That is, unless you think that He's loving, kind, perfectly fair and perfectly just, - in which case He's that. Never mind what He's apparently told us about Himself.

Overcoming Without Religion
Inside the church, there are countless programs for recovery and counseling targeted to the ill, the afflicted, the abused, the addicted and those struggling in various areas of their lives.
But recovery outside of religious programs (and organizations like Alcoholics Anonymous) often gets little attention, despite the fact that the challenges (and solutions) are human ones, and the success stories are often much more compelling.
This show is about overcoming. No deity required.

The Science of Human Races
Perhaps I was too harsh on the "race realists" in my previous video. Human races exist in about the same way that eras in history exist. They are arbitrary and useful as broad generalizations. What I think I can easily show is that the Victorian idea of race essentialism: that the categories themselves are somehow more meaningful than any other, or that they are homotypic, is unscientific.
The Science of Human Races, Part 1
Part 2 will cover more on this topic, particularly the abuse of the sociological definition of race to justify a kind of genetic determinism.
A great number of primary sources went into the research for this video. I've annotated when I used figures, but you may also find the following articles useful in learning more:
1. "Evidence for Gradients of Human Genetic Diversity Within and Among Continents" Genome Res. 2004. 14: 1679-1685.

The First Flower (NOVA Documentary)
In a story blooming with beauty and scientific mystery, this program explores the incredible truth that lies behind the ravishing flowers we so love to behold: that humans could not have existed or evolved without them. "First Flower" probes the controversial discovery of Archaefructus, a Chinese fossil scientists believe is the earliest evidence of a flower yet found on Earth. Following the trail of clues to the fossil's origins, a vivid journey takes NOVA's cameras deep into the lush wilds of China, giving audiences a view into a spectacular living safety deposit box, where some of the world's most beloved flowers originated (see Mother of Gardens).
Flowers have long been at the center of human life. They grace our gardens, brighten our homes, express our gratitude, and even reveal the secrets of our hearts. But they are also essential to human survival. Flowering plants—which include not just our favorite roses, daffodils, and orchids but also wheat, rice, and corn—provide food and medicine and drive national economies. Yet for all our love and need of flowers, until recently, the basic questions about how flowers evolved into the most important and prolific of plants have confounded scientists. In the 19th century, Charles Darwin himself called the dazzling variety of flowers "an abominable mystery," and the puzzle of how flowers came to make up 95 percent of all plants on Earth continues today.
In "First Flower", an intrepid group of botanists and paleobotanists reveal how that "abominable mystery" is starting to move towards a solution. Flowers have always ignited passion, and NOVA captures in glorious images how they are continuing to inspire new scientific discoveries today.

Good Evidence for God?
When you want evidence for God, many Christians will go right to Jesus' miracles. Lets forget about hearsay, exaggeration, artistic license, rhetoric, propaganda, or indoctrination. Okay. Now that we've forgotten all that, we can pretend Jesus' miracles really happened. Are they good evidence for God? No. There's no logical connection between creating a universe and doing impressive acts of magic.
Appealing to omnipotence is a circular argument (miracle claims and omnipotence claims both come from the bible) and appealing to the supernatural isn't a good connection unless God is the only supernatural being you believe exists.

While ACTA was negotiated behind closed doors, hundreds of thousands dicussed copyright issues on the Internet. While content industry lobbyists push to limit our fundamental rights, a movement for a free and open Internet is coming to life.
We support fair compensation for artists and creators, but we oppose the repressive demands of the content industry! We are fed up with lobbying and want our voice to be heard!
The European Parliament is likely to vote on ACTA in June or July 2012. One June 9th, there is a Europe-wide action day against ACTA. Join uns on the streets. Against ACTA. For a new copyright agenda. For digital civil rights, freedom of speech and a free Internet.

Saturday the 9th of June 2012 will be an Europe-wide protest day against ACTA. While the European Commission is desperately trying to extend the deadline for the vote on ACTA, the event aims to remind the members of Parliament the importance of the mobilization against this trade agreement.
The European Commission has finally released the details of its referral on ACTA to the European Court of Justice (ECJ). In a press release, Commissioner De Gucht calls on MEPs not to vote until the Court renders its decision. This would suspend the procedure indefinitely.

In God We Trust? (documentary)
In God We Trust? is a documentary about the fait in a god in U.S.A.
You can now order this Documentary on DVD for $ 9.95.

Comments by the filmmaker, Scott Burdick, on the making of the documentary.
When I was given a DVD of a protest rally in the small town of King, near where I live, I was shocked by the sight of five thousand people waving Christian Flags and cheering one of the speakers when he said that everyone there should "encourage" those who weren't Christian in the area to move somewhere else.
Video: short promo of In God We Trust?
My first reaction was anger and I told my wife, Susan, we were going to put our house up for sale the next day and move somewhere more tolerant. But the next morning, I decided that I would do something else first. I took my video camera down to the Veteran's Memorial in King's Public Park and started interviewing people.
I learned that the rally had been ignited by a returning Afghanistan Veteran who threatened to sue the town if they didn't remove the Christian Flag from the public Veteran's Memorial.
I was surprised that most residents believed that Separation of Church and State is a myth and that the Founders intended this to be an officially Christian Nation. They quoted so many historical facts from a man named David Barton to back up their claims, that I really wondered if what I'd taken for granted might be incorrect.
And thus began a year-and-a-half journey in my spare time to find out the truth and source of the idea of Separation of Church and State, as well as interviews with half a dozen different religious groups in the area about what and why they believed what they do. The story quickly became as much about what we believe about God as what we believe about the Founders of the United States -- and how we evaluate truth itself.
Although I started the project out of anger, I ended up truly liking the people I interviewed on all sides of the issue and it helped to diffuse my own negative emotions to the point where I felt a responsibility to honestly represent the viewpoints of even those I disagreed with the most. To that end, I have not done any narration, but have simply let the people themselves give their opinions in their own words. I will leave it up to you to decide who you agree with.
This was just me with a camera on my own, so it is definitely not a professionally produced documentary, but I hope some will find it as interesting a subject and as much an education as I did in making it.

Blacks and Hispanics Must Escapes The "Democratic Party Plantation"
Harry Jackson seeks to create a new "Black-Brown Coalition" among African Americans and Hispanics by pitting them against gays.
Jackson said comparisons between the push for gay rights and the struggle for civil rights are nonsense because systematic discrimination and violence against the gay community "never happened" and warned that if African Americans and Hispanics don't escape the "Democratic Party plantation," then "America's best days are over".

MATOAKA — Approximately 500 feet outside the town of Matoaka is a non-descript gray and white concrete building, home to a church that believes in a religious practice rooted deep in the culture of Appalachia.
Video by WSAZ News Channel 3
A small sign advertises the building as the Full Gospel Apostolic House of the Lord Jesus and lists the pastor as Mack Randall Wolford as well as worship times. Several videos were posted on YouTube of the church's worship services and many depict Wolford handling serpents as part of services.
On Sunday, Wolford and other parishioners gathered at Panther State Forest in McDowell County as part of homecoming worship services where he was bitten in his thigh by a timber rattlesnake.
After the services, Wolford was taken to a parishioner's home in the Plainview Mobile Home Park in Brushfork. Wolford was then transported to Bluefield Regional Medical Center where he died from his injuries on Monday.

Why Did You Believe?
Those who have never practiced religion often wonder how and why the religious ever began to believe in the first place. And it's a good question:
Why did you believe? Were you indoctrinated as a child? Were you convinced at a time when you were emotionally vulnerable? Were you deceived? Weak-minded? Insane?
These are the questions about the origin of belief in superstition, and we want to hear your stories and perspectives.
