Brighton's Skeptics In The Pub group take an "overdose" of the homeopathic remedy 30c arsenicum album to prove there's nothing in it! The protest takes place outside Boots, whose sale of homeopathic remedies lends scientific credibility to a "remedy" that has NO proven medicinal value.
The Origin of Life Made Easy
The video explains current ideas as to how life might have originated on Earth. The idea that inorganic mud can miraculously turn into cells is a claim made in the Bible and the Qu'ran, not science.
What biologists are trying to do is understand how carbon-based chemicals combine to form nucleotides, the building blocks of replicating chemicals. The chemistry is complex, but it's starting to be understood, and it's not magical.

New Prophet - Takes Mohummad Apart - Tears Down Koran, Hadis
This is a remarkable lady who speaks truth about islam, that is widely known and believed, but rarely part of public discourse on account of fear of violence by followers of islam.
She exposes the hollowness of the concept of moderate muslim (islam) and shows that islam when removed of its coercive clothing is a very ugly sight.
She explains what made her realise islam's dehumanising nature. Her mission is to educate people on truth about islam and that people should speak the truth about islam.
Muslims in Lahore killed Lala Rajpal Malhotra for publishing Rangeela rasul (colorful prophet) biographic account on sexapades of mo-hum-mad, islam's founder.
When this lady speaks, islamic mullah tries to abuse her (every charlatan when faced with the ugly truth about his totalitarian ideology tries to shoot at messenger rather than factually responding). The speaker could not be stopped and islam's picture without is clothes (terror and coercion) is seen for what it is - ugly and obnoxious.
This remarkable new prophet of islam has argued that islam fears truth.
QUOTES ON ISLAM:
Dr. SABEISKI
"militant muslim cuts a victim's head while moderate muslims hold victim's feet"
JOHN ADAMS (American President and a founding father)
"Essence of mohummad's doctrine is violence and lust. to exalt the brutal over spiritual part of human nature"
ALEXIS DE TOCQVILLE (FRENCH THINKER/HISTORIAN)
"I studied the Kuran a great deal I came away from that study with the conviction that by and large there have been few religions in the world as deadly to men as that of Muhammed"
BR Ambedkar
"islam is a false and dangerous way of living"
EARNEST RENAN (FRENCH THINKER)
"Muslims are the first victims of Islam. Many times I have observed in my travels that fanaticism comes from a small number of dangerous men who condition others in the practice of this religion by terror and deceit. To liberate the Muslim from his religion is the best service that one can render him."
WILL DURANT (U.S. HISTORIAN)
"The Islamic conquest of India is probably the bloodiest story in history. It is a discouraging tale, for its evident moral is that civilization is a precious good, whose delicate complex of order and freedom, culture and peace, can at any moment be overthrown by barbarians invading from without or multiplying within".

Under God billboards
In 1954, the words "under God" were added to the Pledge of Allegiance. With Fourth of July just around the corner, some groups are using billboards across the state, including one here in New Hanover County, to help get those two words removed from the pledge for good.

"The Pledge of Alligiance did not have under God until it was added in 1954. We want to bring awareness and want to enjoy the same dignity that everyone else does. It's a clear violation of church and state. I'm sure some people will take it as a controversy, but that is not our intent. The pledge didn't have 'under God' originally. It's religious bigothy and discrimination. It's wrong and we are calling for it to be changed."

Why Common Design Common Designer = FAIL
Intelligent Design advocates claim that when we see similarities between organisms, common designs, they must be evidence of a common designer. Here I show why this catchy little phrase fails miserably.
Intelligent Design is built on two pillars: Irreducible Complexity, and Design. I have previously shown that evolution predicts the IC systems will evolve. Here I disprove the concept of design.
Is life designed? Actually, yes. But the designer is not an intelligent supernatural being, life is sculpted by the environment through natural selection. Mother Nature and Father Time are the designers of life.

The Blind Watchmaker is a 1986 book by Richard Dawkins in which he presents an explanation of, and argument for, the theory of evolution by means of natural selection. Richard Dawkins also presents arguments to refute certain criticisms made on his previous book The Selfish Gene. (Both books are intended to popularise the gene-centric view of evolution.)

Why do people laugh at creationists? (part 33)
Both Nephilimfree and Shockofgod have managed to get themselves on the front page of Conservapedia multiple times, and in this sense have qualified themselves as Why Do People Laugh at Creationists material.
In many respects we should thank Donexodus2 for stirring up things with his recent 'attempted' debate with Nephilimfree.
Nephilimfree is without a doubt a pioneer of creationist science. He is the avant garde of new creationist thought. Indeed as far as I know, he is the only 'creationist scientist' to be putting new ideas on the table, and shamelessly pimping them as 'Gods truth'. Well that would of course be great if Nephilimfree was not comically scientifically illiterate.
So many time when I watch his videos do I get flash backs of dealing with Venomfangx, and cannot but help feel that after half a dozen videos Nephilim will get the message that every time he says 'science proves', he is in reality doing nothing but prostituting his ignorance.
In this case Nephilimfree seems to have latched onto the single fact that the LCROSS NASA mission found water on the moon.
His creationist mind goes through all the possibilities.... 'Noahs flood had water..... therefore the water on the Moon came from Noahs flood'.... and that would of course be great if that was all we knew. Unfortunately for Nephilimfree, he makes the fatal creationist error that he actually puts some numbers on his model, enough numbers for anyone with the most rudimentary knowledge of physics to be able to laugh at him without fear of reprisal.
All you need to know is
Potential energy = mass x g x height
(where g is the 'gravitational constant'.... its actually a function, but near the surface of the Earth it actually makes a pretty good approximation to a constant.)
and you can comfortably hand him his ass.
Creationists essentially never come up with new ideas, and in this respect Nephilimfree is almost unique... that is at least he is trying. Unfortunately he his batshit insane and scientifically illiterate.
The greater shame is that I had a chat with a guy by the name of 'Truthfulchristian' who cites Nephilimfree as one of his 'scientific sources'. Yeah I know, reach for your preferred metaphor, -the blind leading the blind, or in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king......
At any rate, Nephilimfree has now not only achieved some level of 'efame' with his little anticlimactic drama moment with Donexodus2, but has repeatedly found favor with Conservapedia:- his efame has now reached the dubious honor of being feature in the WDPLAC series.
If Nephilimfree feels the need to defend his 'Noahs flood is why there are craters on the Moon' hypothesis, next weekend, we will be having another LeagueofReason call in show on blogTV.

Michael Shermer: The pattern behind self-deception
Michael Shermer says the human tendency to believe strange things -- from alien abductions to dowsing rods -- boils down to two of the brain's most basic, hard-wired survival skills. He explains what they are, and how they get us into trouble.

Rabbi Buchwald about the importance of the Jewish family
Rabbi Ephraim Z. Buchwald, the founder of Jewish Treat's parent organization, the National Jewish Outreach Program, speaks about the importance of the Jewish family and Jewish continuity on the occasion of the brit milah of his new grandson.
The birth of a baby boy is exciting and, at the same time, nerve-racking. In addition to adjusting to the baby, dad and mom must prepare for the brit milah, the circumcision ceremony, that takes place, if all is well with the baby, eight days after birth. Once the doctor announces "It's a boy!" the calling priority becomes grandparents/close family and the mohel (the circumciser), before someone else hires him.
If the parents are lucky, family and friends take over the party planning aspects of the affair (bagels, lox, balloons...etc.). That leaves only the assignment of kibbudim, honors, which are customarily assigned to rabbis, respected teachers or associates and close friends/family. A kibbud is a way to involve others in the happy event. At a brit milah, there can be a number of extra kibbudim. Different people can be asked to say the blessings, to hold the baby during the blessings, etc. Two of the main kibbudim are:
Kvater and Kvaterin: The assignment to transfer the baby from mother to father before and after the brit, is usually bestowed upon a husband (kvater) and wife (kvaterin) (often a couple trying to have children). Kvater and Kvaterin, only practiced in Ashkenazic tradition, is a Yiddish word derived from the German for godparents. One opinion* maintains that the word kvater means like a father (k'vater), since the real father does not have the heart to circumcise his son and, therefore, appoints a surrogate.
Sandek: This title, borrowed from the Greek, means companion of the child. During the ceremony, the role of the sandek is to hold the baby on his lap during the actual circumcision. This is the highest honor at the brit and is often compared to a priest offering incense in the Holy Temple.

Comedy for Atheists: Let God Sort Them Out
9 people die and God must sort them out. Who will frolic in Heaven? Who will roast in hell?
The only criterion for getting into Heaven is accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Are you good? Doesn't matter. Bad? Ditto.
Morality from the Bible? How?

Human Identity
Michael Mosley takes an informative and ambitious journey exploring how the evolution of scientific understanding is intimately interwoven with society's historical path.
What makes us human
1/6
We now know that the brain - the organ that more than any other makes us human - is one of the wonders of the universe, and yet until the 17th century it was barely studied.
2/6
The twin sciences of brain anatomy and psychology have offered different visions of who we are. Now these sciences are coming together and in the process have revealed some surprising and uncomfortable truths about what really shapes our thoughts, feelings and desires.
3/6
And the search to understand how our brains work has also revealed that we are all - whether we realise it or not - carrying out science from the moment we are born.
