Science Based Medicine vs Evidence Based Medicine
Our ancestors lived in a pre-scientific world where the evolution of “logically illogical” thinking helped them survive.
Science doesn’t come naturally; we prefer stories to studies. How can we decide if a medical treatment works?
The scientific method is the only way to get reliable answers. Evidence-based medicine was a good idea but failed to live up to its promise.
How science-based medicine is different from evidence-based medicine and why it is better.

Alternative Medicine Advocates Overdose On Psychotropic Drug
"A group of 29 homeopaths at a conference in Handeloh outside Hamburg, Germany had to be hospitalized after a mass overdose of the designer drug 2C-E. It isn’t clear how the group ended up ingesting the banned substance rather than a homeopathic remedy.
The psychotropic substance, which has been illegal in Germany since last year, is reputed to combine the euphoria of ecstasy, or MDMA, with the hallucinatory experiences of LSD. The effect is highly dose-dependent, however, and the 29 practitioners of alternative medicine participating in the conference, aged 24 to 56, were found “staggering around, rolling in a meadow, talking gibberish and suffering severe cramps” outside the conference hall, broadcaster NDR reported.
More than 150 emergency staff quickly arrived on the scene to administer sedatives and take blood tests. None of the victims reportedly suffered lasting physical damage"*

NHMRC releases statement and advice on homeopathy Date: 11 March 2015
What is homeopathy?
Based on the theory of treating 'like with like', and is supposed to work by giving you very small amounts of substances that in larger doses would cause the very symptoms you want cured.
Taking small doses of these substances – which are derived from plants, animals or minerals – will strengthen the body's own ability to heal and increase its resistance to illness or infection.
Substances contained in homeopathic products are so small they are usually undetectable, but it is argued they still have a biological effect.
Homeopathy is used to treat a wide variety of complaints – coughs, colds, depression, headaches, asthma, arthritis – most common day-to-day ailments.
