Bill O'Reilly's Lee Harvey Oswald Lie Proves His Lying Goes Back Decades

"Conservative TV host Bill O’Reilly has been caught repeatedly lying about being present at the suicide of a key JFK assassination investigation witness, a week after he was accused of exaggerating the dangers he faced reporting from the Falklands War.

"Bill O'Reilly's a phony, there's no other way to put it," Tracy Rowlett, who worked with Bill O’Reilly at a local Dallas WFAA station during the alleged incident, told Media Matters, an online news website.

The suicide victim is George de Mohrenschildt, a picaresque Russian émigré, who was on friendly terms with both the family of Jackie Kennedy and the assassin of John F. Kennedy, Lee Harvey Oswald. He reportedly cooperated for decades with the CIA.

Bill O’Reilly vividly describes going out to question de Mohrenschildt just hours before his death in 'Killing Kennedy,' a bestselling investigative book he published in 2012. He has also recounted the incident on his Fox News program."

Graham Hancock - The War on Consciousness

This is a fantastic talk given by Graham Hancock on TED. TED censored it soon after it was put up, saying something to the effect of "it's not scientifically sound" which is absurd for so many reasons I won't even begin to get into. So I'm uploading it to my channel in the spirit of keeping it alive on the internet, and continue the interest in the censoring issue as well. Please upload it to your own channel if you feel inclined. Graham has specifically encouraged this.

The God Delusion - a film

The Root of All Evil?, later retitled The God Delusion, is a television documentary written and presented by Richard Dawkins in which he argues that humanity would be better off without religion or belief in God.

The documentary was first broadcast in January 2006, in the form of two 45-minute episodes (excluding advertisement breaks), on Channel 4 in the UK.

Richard Dawkins has said that the title The Root of All Evil? was not his preferred choice, but that Channel 4 had insisted on it to create controversy. The sole concession from the producers on the title was the addition of the question mark. Dawkins has stated that the notion of anything being the root of all evil is ridiculous. Dawkins' book The God Delusion, released in September 2006, goes on to examine the topics raised in the documentary in greater detail. The documentary was rebroadcast on the More4 channel on the 25th August 2010 under the title of The God Delusion. (Wikipedia)

Barton Says Stephen Breyer Knows Due Process Came Directly From The Bible

David Barton declares that even Justice Stephen Breyer knows that our system of due process came directly out of the Bible.

Pastor Tells You How God Wants You To Have Sex

"Are you ever unable to sleep because you’re wondering which sexual positions will land you in hell, where you will be tortured by demons who will cut you, “ in the most painful places” ? Well, you’re in luck! A UK pastor has released a video explaining, in great detail, the various behaviors that will get you banned from heaven. And his source is pretty good… infallible, I would say in fact: god! So, you’re gonna want to pay attention.
The video, which is called, “ Warning to Married Christian Couples from the Lord Jesus Christ, ” is the creation of the Nigerian Pastor Olugbenga Oladejo, who founded the Complete in Christ Church (CICC), an “end-time” church which teaches “sinners to repent and children of God to be ready like the wise virgins,” located in Peterborough, England.

Like all pastors who produce 15-minute videos detailing different kinds of sexual positions, Oladejo is very reluctant to talk about sex. But, as he explains, he had no choice. He’s just doing his job. And when god is your boss, you really don’ t want to phone it in. “One day, ” the pastor was visited by the lord who asked him to “ save the souls of his children who are on their way to hell and are not aware of it.” During what most of us would call a dream, or a nightmare, but which Oladejo claims is a “revelation,” god visited the sleeping pastor and projected some scenes of sinning and punishment onto a “judgment screen.” Think of the judgement screen as a movie theater screen which shows scenes of hell instead of full length movies. Oh, and which is staffed by angels, instead of ushers."

Huckabee recalled when Christian chapel services were conducted in his public school.

"And they would talk to us about Jesus," said Huckabee. "The Gideons would give us Bibles and nobody got arrested. Nobody got sued, and, by the way, nobody got hurt either. The Super-Rich and Us Season 1 Jacques Peretti investigates why the super-rich were drawn to Britain.
The Super-Rich and Us BBC Documentary 2015 Episode 1 Rich People VS Poor People UK

Episode 1 Rich People VS Poor People UK

In a series about the extraordinary stories behind maps, Professor Jerry Brotton uncovers how maps aren't simply about getting from A to B, but are revealing snapshots of defining moments in history and tools of political power and persuasion.

Visiting the world's first known map, etched into the rocks of a remote alpine hillside 3,000 years ago, Brotton explores how each culture develops its own unique, often surprising way of mapping. As Henry VIII's stunning maps of the British coastline from a bird's-eye view show, they were also used to exert control over the world.
During the Enlightenment, the great French Cassini dynasty pioneered the western quest to map the world with greater scientific accuracy, leading also to the British Ordnance Survey. But these new scientific methods were challenged by cultures with alternative ways of mapping, such as in a Polynesian navigator's map which has no use for north, south and east.

Episode 2 Rich People VS Poor People UK

As scientifically accurate map-making became a powerful tool of European expansion, the British carved the state of Iraq out of the Middle East. When the British drew up Iraq's boundaries, they had devastating consequences for the nomadic tribes of Mesopotamia.

Mother Jones Catches Bill O'Reilly Lying About Falkland Island War Coverage

"After NBC News suspended anchor Brian Williams for erroneously claiming that he was nearly shot down in a helicopter while covering the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly went on a tear. On his television show, the top-rated cable news anchor declared that the American press isn't "half as responsible as the men who forged the nation." He bemoaned the supposed culture of deception within the liberal media, and he proclaimed that the Williams controversy should prompt questioning of other "distortions" by left-leaning outlets. Yet for years, Bill O'Reilly has recounted dramatic stories about his own war reporting that don't withstand scrutiny—even claiming he acted heroically in a war zone that he apparently never set foot in.

Bill O'Reilly has repeatedly told his audience that he was a war correspondent during the Falklands war and that he experienced combat during that 1982 conflict between the United Kingdom* and Argentina. He has often invoked this experience to emphasize that he understands war as only someone who has witnessed it could. As he once put it, "I've been there. That's really what separates me from most of these other bloviators. I bloviate, but I bloviate about stuff I've seen. They bloviate about stuff that they haven't."

Bill O'Reilly & ISIS Share The Same Goal & It's Terrifying

"Bill O’Reilly stated definitively, multiple times tonight, that he believes the United States and the world are in a “holy war” against ISIS and the White House needs to accept that fact. He said, “This is now a so-called holy war between radical jihadists and everyone else, including peaceful Muslims.”

And O’Reilly again faulted President Obama for a lack of leadership in taking on the terror threat. But O’Reilly was also shocked by the “frightening… nonsense” from State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf on how the U.S. can’t kill its way out of war with ISIS. (Harf has since responded to critics by saying her argument might be “too nuanced” for some.)

O’Reilly said Obama needs to “stop living in a theoretical, fictional world” and stop government spokespeople saying things that are “insulting and dangerous to the American people.”

He concluded by reiterating, “The holy war is here.”"

Richard Carrier's doctorate is in ancient history, with special emphasis on comparative mythologies. He's also a Biblical scholar and a Jesus mythicist. Here he is speaking at Zetiticon in Fargo North Dakota to explain that. We've known for a long time that the Jesus depicted in the Bible is not reflected in history. But where we once thought there was an actual rabbi on whom the legendary stories were based, it now seems that all that was made up out of nothing. There may have been people named Jesus living at that time, but it seems THAT Jesus never existed at all.

Bible Story About Man Living In Whale Is True, Says Fox 'Historian'

"Minister and self-described “public advocate for the Christian faith” Dr. Tom Dickson assured Fox News host Ainsley Earhardt on Sunday that there was ample evidence for the story of Jonah living in the belly of a fish for three days and other Bible tales to convince atheists.

During a Fox & Friends segment titled “Keeping the Faith,” Earhardt pointed out that 19 percent of Americans were skeptics who did not believe that the Bible was sacred, up from 10 percent in 2011.

Dickson explained that many people were turned off by the Bible because it had been used as a “tool for oppression and slavery and violence.”

But he argued that those were “universals of human culture, you don’t need the Bible to have war, violence and slavery. They were there in Greece and Rome before the Bible.”"

Give the Devil His Due

I said that this presentation at SkeptOKon was "in honor of the Dakhma of Angra Mainyu", an Ahrimanic (Satanic) church who's devotees actually believe in a literal devil. However, they're involved in one or two court cases of interest to secularists like myself. At the time of this presentation, I didn't realize I was actually praising the efforts of two separate groups. So there need be some clarification. The devil worshippers successfully sued for the right to hold their black mass in the Oklahoma City Civic Center. They also backed The Satanic Temple, (a non-theist group with no affiliation) in a separate suit over placement of a monument to the Ten Commandments. The Satanic Temple is trying to erect a statue of Baphomet right next to it. Who would have guessed that two different Satanic organizations would have challenged the state in the same courthouse at the same time?

Social Studies and Science Banned from Colorado Classrooms

"Nearly two years ago, the state Board of Education approved the first-ever common set of expectations all Colorado students must meet to earn a high school diploma, starting with the class of 2021.

The idea is to move beyond the mishmash of graduation requirements at 178 school districts and replace antiquated systems of counting credit hours with measures that matter.

The shift envisioned for Colorado, a bastion of local control, grew out of education reform laws that are supposed to better prepare students for college and the workplace.

Now, state officials are contemplating significant changes to those 2013 guidelines, including giving more local control over ways students can prove themselves, lowering the bar in some cases and eliminating science and social studies requirements, leaving only English and math."

The Moral Arc: How Science Leads Humanity Toward Truth, Justice and Freedom

We are living in the most moral period of our species’ history. Ever since the Enlightenment, thinkers have consciously applied the methods of science to solve social and moral problems, and in the process created the modern world of liberal democracies, civil rights, equal justice, open political and economic borders, and prosperity the likes of which no human society in history has ever enjoyed. More people in more places have greater rights, freedoms, liberties, literacy, education, and prosperity—the likes of which no human society in history has ever enjoyed.

In this provocative and compelling talk—that includes brief histories of freedom rights, women’s rights, gay rights, and animal rights, along with considerations of the nature of evil and moral regress—Shermer explains how scientific ways of thinking have moved us ever closer to a more just world.

Pope Francis Said That Childless Couples Are Selfish

"Pope Francis said that couples who opt not to have children are being "selfish" as he spoke of a "greedy generation" that's choosing not to procreate. The pontiff's remarks come just weeks after he seemed to send a contradictory message, telling Catholics that they don't need to breed "like rabbits."

Speaking at his general audience in St. Peter's Square on Wednesday, Francis talked on the joy of children and their importance in society, at one point reminiscing about his own mother.

"A society with a greedy generation, that doesn't want to surround itself with children, that considers them above all worrisome, a weight, a risk, is a depressed society," the pope said. "The choice to not have children is selfish. Life rejuvenates and acquires energy when it multiplies: It is enriched, not impoverished.""

Why Christians Need to Accept Scientific Realities

In 1543, Copernicus said the planets revolved around the sun. Several decades after that, the Roman Catholic Church deemed heliocentrism heretical. They imprisoned Galileo for it.

But now? Even the Church accepts this scientific truth. The evidence is overwhelming. You can't deny it.

For religious people who may have once thought the Earth was the center of the universe, their faith had to evolve to incorporate this new reality.

Today, heliocentrism is no longer controversial. Religion adapted to it. It doesn't shake anyone's faith. Pastors aren't arguing against it on Sunday mornings.

I wish I could tell you religion was weakened by it, but it's still as powerful as it has ever been. But maybe you could argue it becomes a little watered-down every time it has to give way to scientific truths.

And that makes me wonder what will happen with evolution.

Because for a lot of religious people, evangelical Christians especially, they see accepting evolution as a problem. As something that stands diametrically opposed to their beliefs.

You know what? I agree. I think if you take the concept of evolution to its logical conclusion, God evaporates from the picture.

But let me jump a couple hundred years into the future.

Evolution's not going anywhere. It'll be accepted by just about everyone whether you like it or not. Parts of the theory may very well be modified, but the general concept won't ever be overturned. There's too much evidence in favor of it. Just like we're not going back to believing the Sun revolves around the Earth.

And you know what Christians will probably do? The same thing they've always done. They'll find a way to incorporate the scientific reality into their faith-based worldview.

It's not a question of if they'll do it. It's a question of when they'll do it.

Science and religion have been battling it out for centuries, and Science is undefeated.

And it will always be undefeated because it's the best method we have ever found to uncover how nature works.

I understand why Creationists and other science-deniers fear reality. Their faith is inflexible. Eventually, science will just steamroll over their fundamentalist beliefs. It just feels like it's taking forever for that to happen.

If evangelical leaders were smarter, though, they'd figure out a way to incorporate scientific advances into their religion -- now rather than later.

Don't get me wrong; Some Christians have -- and I believe that they're intellectually dishonest in a lot of ways. But too many pastors and Christian apologists just cling to this mindset that if all the evidence points away from their faith, they have to pretend like it's not there.

They have to find ways to discredit it. They've tried it with Intelligent Design, and irreducible Complexity, and "teaching the controversy."

It's a losing proposition. And the longer they remain opponents of science, the quicker their beliefs will stop being taken seriously.

I'll admit I'm just surprised they're unable to figure this out. They have so much money and so many people with large megaphones, pastors and authors and speakers... they have the ability to adapt starting right now.

But instead, so many of them -- millions of them -- still pretend like evolution and climate change are part of some anti-Christian conspiracy.

They still haven't learned a lesson from hundreds of years ago.

Fox News Host: Climate Change Hoax Costs Us Our Freedom!

"The hosts of the Fox News program Outnumbered on Wednesday slammed the White House for saying that climate change affects more Americans than terrorism. Because according to one host, faulty “science” about a recent snow storm made Americans “give up our freedom.”

In a recent interview with Vox, President Barack Obama had said that the media tends to overstate the threat of terrorism compared with the threat of climate change and disease “because that’s what folks watch, and it’s all about ratings.”*

"Governor Scott Walker was so determined not to make news during his trip to London this week, he made news.

A week after Chris Christie’s disastrous trip to London, Walker was desperate to avoid the kind of slip that cost the New Jersey governor any positive headlines back home.

Montana Politician Says Yoga Pants Should Be Illegal

"Montana state Rep. David Moore (R) is not a fan of yoga pants.

"Yoga pants should be illegal in public anyway," Moore said, according to the AP."

Conservative: 50 Shades Of Grey Will Bring The Apocolypse

"Fox News contributor Robert Jeffress believes that gay marriage and the film release of Fifty Shades of Greyare signs that the apocalypse is nearing. Robert Jeffress said "the Bible prophesized that in the End Times, there will be a lack of moral restraint. And I think we're seeing that manifested in so many different ways."

Robert Jeffress is an evangelical pastor with a long history of incendiary remarks. He is an anti-gay bigot who believes gays lead a "miserable lifestyle," homosexuality is linked to pedophilia, and gay people are promiscuous and engaged in "filthy behavior," and "brainwashing activit[ies]." He's compared Mormonism to a cult, called Islam an "evil, evil, religion," referred to Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism as "false religions," andsaid the Catholic Church is a "counterfeit religion" that rose from a "cult-like, pagan religion."

Despite Robert Jeffress' controversial history, cable news programs frequently host him and Fox News employs him as a contributor.

During a February 10 appearance on Fox News Radio's The Alan Colmes Show, Robert Jeffress said he saw "radical Islam," gay marriage, and Fifty Shades of Grey as signs of the coming apocalypse."

"Fox News host Tucker Carlson declared that all slavery in the world had been eradicated thanks to the Christian faith.

At the National Prayer Breakfast last week, conservatives accused President Barack Obama of comparing Christianity to the Islamic terrorist group ISIS when he observed that many religions had been used to justify violence throughout history.

"So we're responsible for the Crusades a thousand years ago?" Carlson complained. "Who's 'us' anyway? And by the way, who ended slavery and Jim Crow? Christians. The Rev. Martin Luther King. Christians."

"Christianity is the reason we don't have slavery in the world today," he added. "I mean, talk about ahistorical."*

"As the vaccination wars continue to escalate, a new study suggests that trusted doctors and experts may be no match for the loud and often inaccurate wisdom of Internet commenters.

In a first-of-its kind experiment, researchers at Washington State University have shown that people tend to be persuaded less by credible pro- and anti-vaccination information published online than by individual users who hang around in comments threads on the topic kicking up dust.

The findings, which will appear in an upcoming Journal of Advertising, underscore the powerful influence of information disseminated by word of mouth. Moreover, they offer a striking insight into the ability of the anti-vaccination movement to flourish despite mounting outrage and overwhelming scientific evidence that supports vaccination."

Bobby Jindal Warns of Muslim Invasion in USA

"Rather than back away from his disputed assertions about “no-go zones” for non-Muslims in Europe, Governor Bobby Jindal (R-LA) has tripled down, first telling Fox News’ Neil Cavuto that America could soon have its own “no-go zones” and now, in a radio interview with the Family Research Council’s Washington Watch, warning of the coming Muslim “invasion” of the U.S.

Jindal repeated his comments about “no-go zones” in which Muslims are trying to impose Sharia law during the Monday interview, telling those who would do the same here, “If you don’t want to be an American, don’t come to America… If we’re not careful the same no-go zones you’re seeing now in Europe will come to America.”

“They want to use our freedoms to undermine that freedom in the first place,” Jindal said later of Muslim immigrants. “This is a place where you have freedom of self-determination, freedom of religious liberty, freedom of speech. This is an amazing place and we’re a majority Christian country. We’re a Judeo-Christian heritage, but we don’t discriminate against those that have no beliefs and or have different beliefs.”*

9 Reasons Religion is So Powerful

Why is religion so damn powerful when it's also so damn wrong?

1) Religion has answers for everything.

It doesn't have the *right* answers for everything, but it has answers, and for many people, that's enough.

2) Religion uses guilt to prevent you from leaving.

Religion compels you to live up to certain ideals whether or not they make sense...

And disobeying them, or even questioning them, means you're not really faithful.

3. Religion makes you feel special.

Doesn't everyone want to be one of God's Chosen People?
Don't you want to believe God created you personally and watches over you?

The whole concept of a Guardian Angel is silly, but it's the same principal: You're a special little snowflake. And so the billions of other people just like you.

There's value to believing that when you're a child. But at some point, you have to realize that if all of us are special, none of us are special.

4. Religion capitalizes on division

Religion loves to stoke the Us vs. Them mentality. We're okay; they're not. We're going to Heaven; they're not. God loves us; not them.

It's human nature to want to be accepted. We all want to be part of a welcoming group.

The problem is that it's that very mindset that causes so many problems. Because so many people believe that everyone who's not in your group needs to be converted or killed.

5. Religion makes morality really simple.

We all want to be good people. But not everyone agrees what it takes to be good.

Religion makes that simple. Follow our rules, and you're good! It requires no further intellectual thought. It's that easy.

6. Religion claims ownership of spiritual bliss.

Sure, a lot of things can make you happy now. But what's going to happen with your soul? Don't you want to be okay in the afterlife?

Religion steps in and says it'll make us happy in the one place we have zero control over: the afterlife. It's hard not to sign on to that deal.

7. Religion gets us while we're young.

There's a reason most people don't switch from one religion to another later in life.
You're taught to believe this stuff before you're old enough to question it.

8. Religion makes you think you can control the uncontrollable.

Life is unpredictable. Shit happens. But isn't it nice to think that your prayers might change the course of things?

9. Money.

Churches convince you to give them 10% of your income. They don't have to pay taxes because they're considered non-profits.

If you took the money we spent perpetuating religious lies and put it almost anywhere else, we could get pretty far in solving a lot of the world's problems.

In fact, it'd be way more effective than the prayers offered by people in churches.

4th Grader Suspended For Threatening To Magically Make Classmate Disappear With His “One Ring"

"Tolkien lore led a Texas boy to suspension after he brought his “one ring” to school.

Kermit Elementary School officials called it a threat when the 9-year-old boy, Aiden Steward, in a playful act of make-believe, told a classmate he could make him disappear with a ring forged in fictional Middle Earth’s Mount Doom.

Professor Reza Aslan is the author of the New York Times #1 Bestseller "Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth," and is a writer and scholar on religious studies.

Is there a media bias against Islam? Reza Aslan points to certain media pundits and hosts who call all religion bad, but Islam "the worst." Is it bigoted when pundits like Sam Harris call any non-extremist Muslims "not real" Muslims? Are some media commentators denouncing and defining Christian and Muslim extremism themselves fundamentalist bigots? Where is the balance between when interpreting holy text? What is the difference between atheism and neo-atheism? Is there such a thing as the one "truth?"

Reza Aslan sits down with The Young Turks' Cenk Uygur to discuss and debate the state of religious commentary in media, religious ignorance, the removal of religion from society and neo-atheism, what it really means to be religious, picking-and-choosing attitudes across the board, and much more on fundamental misunderstandings of religion.
